#198396 So basically I just bought this 1992 Honda Civic eg, but there's A LOT of problems all over the car...

As far as electrical problems go... All the wiring for the dash gauges is wacky.

Main Problems:
[1] Gas meter does not work.. Along with the low gas light. So basically I have no clue if I'm full or empty (it just reads below empty)
[2] Dash light does not work, scary driving at night...
[3] Speedometer is wacky.. never seems to read the right speed.

Minor Problems:
[1] The "open door" light does not turn on and there is no beeping sound.

That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment...
Being a new Eg owner.. I have no clue what I'm looking at..
I'm only good with car audio..
So I deeply appreciate any help offered.

Thanks!

#198399 according to a honda tech of 22 yrs at my school, he said that honda used 2 diff gauge clutsters denso and another(i forget the name), but i believe the denso tend to go bad..

eg's dont have a low gas light like the ek's which sucks..

maybe the light bulbs are burnt out or a fues might be bad :thumb:

the perviuos owner prob took out the beeper for the door or maybe a fues is bad
and same wit the dome light maybe the fuse is bad or the bulb is burnt
out

the 1st thing you should do is check all the fuses and go from there :thumb:

#198404 DangQ!! :D

Sadly I'm still a bit fuzzy.. I'm sure its an eg because i tried to put some ek rear seats into my car and they wouldn't fit.. but the dash gauges seem to be from an ek.. will that make it any harder to get things working or will any of the lights like the low gas light not work?

#198405 you got pics of the car and the interior

i know people put the teggy clusters in there eg's but never herd of ek's..

Eg gauge cluster

Ek gauge cluster

and for the gas low light, that wont work unless they used a ek fuel pump

#198416 No pictures at the moment :(

BUT I'll post a few up tomorrow on here.. It doesn't look like that EK gauge cluster either...
Hmm..
actually i just looked it up. It's a GSR gauge cluster...
http://www.jdmshit.com/UsedParts/JDM_LS_Cluster.jpg <- exactly like that
Apparently this guy loved putting GSR parts into the eg..
Almost everything is from a GSR.... bizarre....

Would you happen to have any insight on this?
Thanks Again! :D :D :D

#198486 Well then you're going to have to go through each and every wire and verify it with a multimeter using a Helms.

Door chime could be that the plug under the driver's seat is disconnected. But most likely it's related to the faulty cluster swap wiring since all of your problems can be traced to the cluster wiring.

If your dash lights aren't working, then your parking lights also aren't working. You're going to get a ticket if you don't get in an accident first.

Like so many people, you just learned the hard way; never ever buy a modified car. Particularly when the wiring has been touched. Sorry man.

#198488 This is what you should do. Go the junkyard and pull the entire cluster harness and cluster. Or just the harness and buy a tach cluster on ebay. Sell that GSR cluster.

Umm the parking light works so im not too sure what it is.. Possibly just a burned out bulb?
idk im not super great at the "do it yourself" stuff but ive been trying to get better... =/

Is it possible to get any of these lights and whatnot to actually work if I get another civic factory wire harness. Apparently my friend has one lying around
