#175692 ok so i dont wanna clutter up teals thread by just my ?'s so here is my questions

hatchie wrote:hey i kno i kinda late on this but doing the headlight wire tuck what actually needs to be done do achieve this (without the motor out already)

does fuse box or battery have to be taken out?

what wires are safe to cut and which ones arent?

adding HIDS so you think that'll give me enough play?

anything else you might think i should kno lol!

thanks teal

You run the wires on the outside of the engine bay inside the fender/frame. I already had my fusebox/battery out. I don't know how difficult it would be to do it with them still in. The battery comes out in 20 seconds and the fuse box is a little harder, but comes out in 5 mins, so it's not a big deal to move to get the tuck done and then put them back. But you shouldn't need to. All the wires are safe to cut, just be sure you solder & shrink wrap them back together properly :thumb: Also disconnect the battery before starting of course.
Not sure about the HID situation, never messed with them in a civic.
Look through this thread, you'll see how I ran the wires through an existing hole :thumb:

i read the whole thing but it doesnt really actually say specific things as far as did you strip the headlight harness from the main? aka where the starter wires are and clutch wires are (the harness in the drivers side strut mount area ..... is there a way i can delete the whole harness from the bay but keep my clutch reservior and my brake master in the bay?

i tried tucking everything today but i ran into the problem of everything being tied into each other as if it was a maze?

i'll post some pic so everyone can understand alot better

#175715 you'll have to cut & lengthen the wires for them to reach the front of the car :thumb:

So before you were doing just a headlight tuck, now you're upgrading to a full tuck?

#175788 lol i wish but no when i was taking the headlight harness apart i got all the way to the part where the harness y's out at the firewall and it seems like i wont even be able to take the two apart even......

this is my first time doing this thats why im trying to understand it!

i'll take a picture so it makes it easier, i mean i could always cut the wires that are tangled in the loom that go to the headlight and extend them through the firewall and do it that way but it seems like there is an easier way?

#175794 I guess I'm not sure exactly what you're doing. :? Maybe it's going to be harder because you're not doing the full tuck, making the harnesses come through in the lower center of the firewall.

there:

green is starter wiring

red is headlight harness

blue is brake reservior wire harness

yellow is area of problem

all of these are tied into each other i havnt taken all the tape of so maybe im thinking i should strip it all to really see whats going on.

id like to take that whole harness right there and tuck it but NOWHERE on the internet can you find info on how to do so.

#175841 Ok here's what to do...
pull the whole harness inside of the firewall (not a lot of room to work, it's a pain)
Then run the RED and BLUE wires through the factory hole in front of the door jamb like i did in the wire tuck thread. The blue wire will then snake up into the cowl area and run it out under the plastic cowl cover to the MC lid.
The red will continue to run inside the fender area up to the front of the car for the headlight.
The GREEN will need to find another way to get to the engine. If you
aren't doing a full tuck and bringing the rest of the engine wires through the lower center firewall, then look around for another area to shake them through, Maybe with the fuse box wires or somewhere in that area.

The YELLOW thing looks like the bracket for the clutch MC... not much you can do about that except relocate the reservoir (mine is in the cowl) or buy the S2k clutch MC (I'm doing this to put my wipers back in)

#176017 ok and just to make sure ..... your going off my colors right lol

and how do i bring the "blue" wire into the bay if it's connected to my reservior cap?

and how would i get rid of the "green if i wanted to? would i have to extend any wires ...etc.

im trying to get ready for my GSR thats comming in like a month so i want my bay to look purdy :D

#176023 Just cut and lengthen the wires and re-solder them. Run the 2 wires for the brake booster under the cowl cover, then make them come out right above the MC. The wires disconnect like 2" off of the MC cap. If you ever installed amps before, it's a lot like that- Finding ways to fish the wire through to where you want it.
Look at some pics of my bay if you want to see what I'm saying, I don't know how else to explain it other than my previous posts. You can really screw a lot up if a wire tuck goes wrong. If you don't understand the basics, I would not attempt. I've seen it happen before...

like that right ok i gotcha and for giggles where did you but your starter wire harness?

oh and howd you shorten the throttle cable i see yours is going straight towards the motor and my loops basically around everything lol
User avatar

#176197 The power wire to the starter? It is 4 ga power wire I bought by the foot from a car audio shop.
purple baller status wire lol.
I re-did my whole charging system with power wire since I moved my battery.

the throttle cable is just stuffed down in the bay and held with a zip tie. :thumb:

#176295 sweet thats a def mod i gunna do... and no not the cable to the starter i mean the big harness that sits on the strut mount on that bracket?

#177142 ok so i read your thread a coupld times over and i found where you put everything!!!

only question is.....

im getting a b18c and ill only have a day to swap everything out

i wanna get a used harness from the junkyard and make a tucked harness for when i swap the motor... but not sure if i have to get a b18 harness or if i can use almost any harness with the exception of vtec obv?

#177147 oh and if i dont have time to make a new harness and i still get the motor in... would i be able to do a full wire tuck without taking the motor out but prolly taking out the dash and everything?

#177187 When you tuck, you modify the chassis harness to come out at the lower center of the firewall. Then you have to modify the engine harness to meet the chassis harness where it comes out at the lower center of the firewall. IF it was possible to do in a day, it would be a 24 hr day.
If it's your first tuck, it's going to take a lot longer.

It's much easier to do with the engine out, I wouldn't attempt with the engine in, although I'm sure it's possible. Just a pain.

#177196 lol damn it gunna be hard having a daily that i want to be sick lol

and can i use any harness or do i need a b18 harness?

and if i keep heat and a/c i have to make a hole for the wires correct?

p.s thanks for the help your very knowledgeable!!! :D
