Okay going to buy an ECU today I have a d16z6 engine from either a 95 or 96 car I think a 96 EX should the p28 work right away without modding anything, or don't the 96 ex civic have d16z6, are the 96 civic ex's a d16y8?

Yeah I'm sure the p28 will work just fine. That's what I have in my whip!

92-95 D16z6 are OBD1. 96-00 D16y8 are OBD2.
So if you have a D16z6, get the P28. Be sure it matches your transmission (auto or manual) :thumb:

just answered this in your last post......
yes P28=obd1 sohc vtec ecu

the y8 and z6 may have a difference in power but they all share the same base of being a sohc vtec and since your car is obd1 you need an obd1 ecu aka P28 but liek stated above virgin one dont get one that had a chip put in etc
