No way it would be a pr4 ecu. It wouldn't even plug into your harness. Unless some one converted and obd1 car to obd0 which would be really stupid. Even then you would have lots of cells.

Pretty sure its a p28. The right ecu for your car or motor.

my motor was swapped out it used to have a b7 in it but was swapped before i bought it. but if you look at the last picture it says PR4 on it? and thats the only code i could find... unless the casing was swapped? would that work?

Ahh unless its an obd1 pr4. It will work with your d16z6 motor but you won't have vtec and will have a cell.

Or like you said. Maybe the casing was swapped. That all depends on if you have a cel or not.

i used to have a CEL but fixed it and it turned off now when im driving it randomly comes on and stays on when i turn the car off and then back on i have no check engine light. untill i start to drive for a little while? so I switched it out for my real p28 ecu and the check engine light is still doing the same then and i have a code 21 VTEC spool solenoid valve and i think its the wiring because the vtec wires are just pushed in not pinned in so they wont stay i think thats the problem maybe?

Make sure the vtec wiring is done right.
The pressure switch needs to be wried up to d6 on connector d and the vtec solenoid to a4 on connector a.

If its throwing the vtec cel even with the p28 it gotta be the wiring.

yeah im going to start with that and see what happens from there the wiring looks like it was rushed and there is a lot of wires taped together and that so ill just redo the wiring to make sure its all good.

it looks like that ecu is chipped... you should take it to a tuner to see what basemap it even has on it.

Its definitely a chipped ecu. If you look at your last pic, on the top left corner, you see that big black chip that says "SST". That one chip is removeable. That's where you write the program for whatever set up.

well does this mean i probably should get my car tuned since a lot of things have been pretty weird lately it runs perfect at times then at others. i think i might just get it checked out by import sports a well known shop where i live.

Is your motor build? You running boost? If its fully stock then there's no need for a tune. You just gotta find some one or a tuner with a chip burner and burn you a d16z6 basemap.
