- Mon Aug 11, 2008 10:28 pm #65451 Well this is another one of those pretty self explanatory threads. The title kinda says it all.

Basically, I've had this civic for a while now (couple years) It has no sunroof/moonroof, no power locks, no power windows, nothing. I even have an alarm that DOESNT work. (it was installed, i think, BEFORE the PREVIOUS owner had the civic. He didn't even know it was in there when he sold it to me)

Anyway...

How hard is it to swap to power locks, power windows, power mirrors. Basically to go from the basic package (what I have) to the top power everything 95 civic model.

I know there's not much I can do about the sunroof...I guess I COULD get one installed...but I hear that aftermarket sunroofs tend to leak...I mean...I know ANYTHING is passable when you've got the money, but is it all pretty much plug and play?

- Thu Aug 14, 2008 12:18 am #65816 Well for the sunroof.... I wouldnt worry about that.... For everything else.... I guess its just plug and play... your best bet would be to go down to the pick your part... find a civic that has power windows/locks and what not and then just take all the wire harness it has. You will need to take the door panel too since you want power windows.... So yeah..... it is plug and play.... but you will need to find the stuff.... I wouldnt bother.... with the power add ons though..... they are just more stuff that could break lol. If you still want to do it though.... your best bet is to go to a pick youur part... find a civic that does have what you want and need... and start dismantling

I went to some local junk yards but civics there are pretty much the frames now. They go quickly. I've seen offers online for the door panels and power window pieces.

As far as the "stuff could break" issue goes...I know...but It's a small risk that I'd be more than willing to take to get the convenience and luxury of power everything within the car. Things like this vary from person to person and I'm one of those people that are pretty convinced I gotta have it lol.

- Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:40 pm #65920 Well if thats your thing... then props up ... Ebay is actually pretty good for used parts. Best of luck to ya. I wouldnt mind putting power windows into my car..... I was going to put power steering... but thats to much work X_x ..... i have all the parts except the power steering rack lol... I will see what exactly to do to perform the power window swap because one of my buddies did it twice on a crx... I know they are different from the eg hatch... but it wont hurt to see what he did.

I had a power sunroof in my 99' Eclipse before I got my civic. I LOVED that sunroof. I would love to have a power sunroof in my civic too, but not if the percentages of it leaking are so high. Unless I found a REALLY trusty installer somewhere.
