does anyone have recommendations for a spring/strut setup that would allow me to keep a good ride quality? i was thinking about going tokico illumina's with Tein S Tech springs but i am not sure how good this setup would be for where i live. the roads around me are quite rough that is why i am wanting to keep a good ride quality. thanks. Josh

Koni yellow's and Ground Control springs seem to be a favorite for a non adjustable setup. kinda pricey, but good none the less

TEIN S-techs are the softest, floatiest springs I've felt. They suck for hard cornering but feel damn near stock. I'd go with that.

tanabe NF210s with tokico shocks would be soft but would still give the car a good stance

thats going to be my set up. tein-s with koni yellow's. can't wait..... for money.

yeah. i dont plan on doing alot of hard cornering with it. i also thought about going with dropzone springs and kyb gr2s. a buddy of mine had that setup on his mx3 and it rode pretty nice. i have to look around alot before i decide for sure because im on an extremely limited budget. when i get my income tax i am buying my struts/springs and if i have any left its going towards my license. i just lost my job so its the last of my money. it sucks big time.

Tein S Techs or Eibach Sportlines/Pro Kit ( depending on the ride height you want) are some of the more comfortable springs.


I suggest dropzone is a bad idea especially with GR2 Shocks. GR2 shocks are aftermarket STOCK replacement shocks. They offer the same dampening as stock shocks and will not be able to handle the stiff dropzone springs.


Tokico Illuminas are not stiff shocks. Given they have rebound adjustability will help with the bumps around the streets as well as increasing cornering speed. They will match good for daily driven cars with the S Tech or Prokits/Sportlines.

I found brand new KYB AGX shocks on ebay for 280.00 and I also found Eibach Pro Kit springs for 190.00. Total I'm dropping 470.00 which isn't too bad considering.

Edit: These were also local pick-ups*

also, i can get dealer cost on most of the things i need because my brother owns a business so that is going to help me be able to afford this stuff a little better.

p.s.) if you guys need a hook up let me know and i will see what i can do.

This is sposed to be a really awesome set up. People choose this over most true coilover setups. Ive had a set up like it I used KYB shocks and didnt have the CG top hats.

i can say.. the Koni yellows by far is the best shock I EVER used on any car.

They provide such great change in adjustment. One turn will vastly adjust the shocks damping. The greatest thing of them all is that Konis have Lifetime warranty to original owners of the shocks.


Ground Controls uses Eibach Springs and the customizablility of choosing your spring rates makes these coilover sleeves ideal. Pair them up with the GC top hats you got yourself a nice long stroked suspension with the ride height that looks great.

If I hadn't come across such an awesome deal on my PIC's I would've had Koni's and GC's. Hands down. They are the best shock and spring combo ever.
