need help.. is it okei if i painted my hud black? i have a red hatch.. need help ,, also if il use flat black.. or glossy?? or just not paint my hud at all..

Sand it down.. just a little, spray primer, and go and look for the best matching red, or go all out and find the actually color..

If, you're painting it black because it's an ugly teal hood on a red car then it's fine. If you're painting it because it looks cool then you are wrong. It looks gay.

No theres one out here that actually look's good like that. But as i said make sure the reason why your painting it is good.. like the paint is all faded or its badly scartched or something..

Don't paint it if you don't need to, Cuz your taking a chance on it lookin bad...

i had my hood painted black one time lol just cuz the paint on it need to be touched up and i was F-it going black hood! so many fucking cars wanted to race me and so many people liked it but they asked me this.. Is that carbon fiber?!

if you want glossy black, you will have to do alot of wet sanding & polishing after you hit it with aerosol paint to have it look good.

Flat black will show the dirt. Satin Black would be the way to go if I was going to do it. It is in between flat and glossy.

I'm assuming you're doing it because you like the CF hood look but are on a budget? It is your car and if you like the look then go for it. Just be sure to do a good job so it ends up looking nice

wet sand your hood with 600 grit. If you have any deep scratches or dents, now is a good time to use some body filler & get it smooth. Then clean it with a wax/grease remover. Then primer, then if your primer coat is smooth, paint. if not, then wetsand, clean, and paint.

I don't know. I just have a problem w/ being a poser. Painting a hood black to mimic a CF hood is pretty much the definition of a poser. JMO.

i think thats kinda ricey. for someone to paint something as massive as a hood black.

thats like someone painting their fenders black. or just their trunklid.
they are too big of a part of the car.
(im sure you've noticed my car is red and spoiler is black. its not too massive, like a hood would be.)

now if you were considering getting carbon fiber parts, thats a different story.

and if you ignore this advice and paint your hood black anyway, atleast make it glossy...

Just be legit, work a few extra hours every week, and go with carbon fiber. Black hood is wanna-be CF IMO which is lame... but then again I painted my roof black instead of buying an 800 dollar CF roof cap so I'm kinda a hypocrite. All in all, like its been said before its your car, do what you want with it.

Black is pretty pointless really, ive even gone off cf - i just couldnt stand getting asked "when are you getting your bonnet painted" every day

Here's an older pic of my car with a spray painted black hood. My hood was faded to pink from the AZ sunshine, and carbon fiber just wasnt in the budget yet. Just take your time....it'll turn out fine.
