ok im always starting to see eg's with the hood raised in the back .... i know that they put washers in between the hood and the support but the question is why?

is this a jdm thing or does it actually have a function to it?

well for one its not really a jdm mod as it is for some form of a air flow function....

people normally just go to home depot get some washers and a longer bolt and do that hood prop mod your talking about it serves as a way to get some air flow to cool the engine bay by releasing the hot air as you move forward

Sign up over at Photobucket.com and upload your pics, then you can post them on here. Quite easy really.

and yeah as the above said, when fresh air travels through the front, cool engine and hot air comes out hood.
Not JDM, just a little mod which people do, IMO it dose nothing.

Well your opinion is wrong as it does do something :P

IIRC on of the SX guys over here ran a test and found that with the bonnet spaced at the back temps in the bay dropped by 15 degrees or something crazy like that so it does help.

If you have the modifications that require more cooling i can understand, but the people that do it cause they think it's cool are morons in my books :P

But i should note i don't like it either way and personally think if you're going to modify your motor to where raising the hood, then you should have already modified the cooling system for the motor anyway

So how does dropping your temps by 15oC help?... not wrong, you're just stubbon.

IMO of course, I don't like the looks of the hood popped up in the back. I would prefer to just make sure to get the best components possible for cooling if it was needed that badly. But to each their own of course.

it looks alright just dont pop it up so high imo... i had it done to my cars i had it to a point where it was not too noticeable but yet it had its function...
