- Fri Mar 19, 2010 1:13 am #182189 while driving on the interstate my car suddenly got LOUDER.. and i could feel the vibration inside the car from the exhaust. i'm not sure if it's the exhaust or tranny but the car is def. louder than usual now and idk what's the diagnosis.. any help is appreciated

- Fri Mar 19, 2010 6:27 pm #182339 some thing like were the conneters of the pipes eather rusted out and now there is a hole or it broke completly.also could have blown a exhuast gasket.you would have tojack up the car and look for the problem.

- Fri Mar 19, 2010 8:32 pm #182355 I had that same problem while driving on the highway. Turned out for me was that my muffler rusted through the bottom.
I would check that first and them work your way towards the engine along the exhaust underneath the car.

- Sun Mar 21, 2010 4:08 am #182645 so i waited till the morning for a better view of things w/ the sun out and voila!! the damn exhaust pipe broke of right where the catalytic converter was.. so it was estimated at 300 for the new converter and labor so i'm not short that much.. happy to have a not so loud car anymore now though

- Sun Mar 21, 2010 4:38 am #182650 look at the size of that hole. did you cause any backfiring? That would be crazy, driving and then boooommmm. that would scare the crap out of everyone.

- Mon Mar 22, 2010 4:59 pm #182878 mine did the same thing about 2 months ago i got a cheap ebay header back stainless steel exhaust for 200 shipped if you want a cheap fix that will last for awhile look into it
