ok i have a z1 that i got for cheap and have some misc. items i was trying to see if there a good set up i was thinkin about a z1 block,z6 pistons,y5 head w/skunk 2 intake manifold running maybe 9 to 12 psi what do u guys think is this a good lil setup and if any one know about what are my numbers looking to be any and all info will help thanks my hatchy will appreciate ur help

The HX ecu is what you will need to control the vtec-e operation of the y5 head, and it is only 96-00 (obd2). Or will the VX ecu work?

Why not use a z6 head with a p28 ecu chipped? That would probably be easier to setup and make more power.

You didn't mention which rods, but I would go aftermarket as the d16z6 is not much thicker than the d15z1.

I'm not that familiar with the d15z1 block... is it worth boosting compared to a D16z6, or is it more like the JDM D15b or the US D15b7?

The d15z1 already has low compression pistons, Making it a good canidate for boost. You can put in LS(B18a/B18b) Rods which are good until 300hp, Keep your Low compression z1 pistons and just use a D16z6 head.

You will have to make some bushings machined, or use oversized bearings to shim up the LS Rods to the D15 Crank.

Assuming you hide the turbo it would be super sleeper status if you had a "VTEC-E" Valve Cover.

That is the build I was planning on using a d15z1 block. The D15z1 is its own engine. it has the smaller rod journals of the D15's however the stroke of the d16. Giving it the potential for some torque.

that does sound like it would be a good build dont mind if i use it. how much boost u think i would be able to take it to. maybe ass high as to get it to hit the 300 hp mark give or take

be sure to get those LS rods shot peened

i dont know to much about machining or what that really is but they should know at the machine shop will they need the crank and block or just take the rods
