hello I have a noobie question I wanted to know what exactly a subframe does for your vehicle. [/url]

A subframe is the main structural part of the chassis that the engine & suspension bolts to. The front subframe bolts in, the rear is part of the chassis. A subframe brace is often used on the rear when installing a larger swaybar to prevent subframe tear out from the extra force of the larger swaybar.

What Teal said plus the steering rack bolts to this as well. It also provides structural strength to the car.
