#11308 Thanks guys, when I first saw the Sol I think I puked in my mouth. :D It's ok though, I was wanting a project car and this one looked like a good one. It has a newer SI motor with about 80K miles on it. Though, I'd like to do a B18C1 swap eventually. I'm just really excited to get this thing painted and see how it looks.

#16596 Here's a little update...

We began the body work on the Sol. The rear quarter panels are shot. We are trying to fix them but they really just need to be replaced. I don't have the money for that right now so they are getting new metal welded in and filler. I'll rehash them later. The hood is fuxored, which I already knew. The original owner had over 1/4 to 1/2 inch of bondo on the hood. We chipped straighted it a little more with a body hammer and refilling it with as little as possible. A CF hood is definitely in the future. We sprayed some a plastic piece last night just to see how it looks. I LOVE it! Not flat like I was expecting, but I'm ok with that. I can't wait to see this thing when it's done.

#24277 Here's an update... Got the body painted olive. It still needs buffed and wet sanded. The front bumper and plastics that go around the rear window area have a couple coats on it, but needs a few more. Those and the rear bumper is getting painted when my friend gets back from FL. The wheels are going to get painted black eventually until I can afford the Rota Group-Ns.

#24281 Why didnt the front and back bumper get painted the same time? Looking better, I really like that color. Definetly needs more clear coat IMO make it Blingin. Good work though :thumb:

#24284 It's acrylic enamel, it doesn't have clear on it. I thought it was going to be flat, but I was wrong it will have some shine to it. Especially once we buff it.

The front bumper is getting replaced. The replacement bumper is partially painted, just needs finished. I'm taking the rear bumper off to paint because it's just easier that way to tape the black piece by the muffler. We got into a time crunch and wanted to paint the body green before he left for FL.

I'm a moron.. I said we need to put paper over them before we paint, and forgot. Oh well, I'll get it off one way or another. I'll mess with those when I go to paint the wheels.

#24298 Man, how are you guys so pro with paint? I'd really love to re-paint my civic without having to pay for it professionally done, but it'd end up looking like shit.

#24315 all you need is a clean area to paint in and some practice. Some people can't believe I painted my civic with rattle cans, also enamel :woot:

Once you get the method down, it can be done with a can or a spray gun. The spray gun is definitely nicer, but at the same time the rattle can was easier and cheaper since I was not painting my hood or roof. Spray gun will give you a larger fan than a can will though, that's the nice part.

Racing Rice, that looks great for not even wetsanding it yet. :woot:
I know the look you were going for having it be flat, like a military finish. But it looks good shiney too. If you wanted to make it flat, when you wetsand with 1500 grit, do another wetsand with 2000 grit and see how that looks. It will be dull, but not like a chalkboard. Also, they make satin/flat clear coats that you can paint your car with if you really want to dull it. I'll see if I can find pics
