Hi everyone, as the title says I'm new to Civics and I just bought a 94' green (teal?) DX Coupe with a dead (bad bearing?, head gasket) engine. It's an automatic but the deal was too good to pass up.
I plan on using it as a daily driver (with the gas prices these days) after swapping another engine into it. After searching a bit I can't get a definitive answer if the auto tranny will work with any other engine aside from the D15B7, any input on that? (Keep in mind, I don't have much mechanical experience so the swap will help me learn)

Anyway, will post photos of the EG after I wash it. Until then here are photos of my current DD car, which hopefully will become my project after I get the civic running.

Why :? (rhetorical question)? It will be my daily driver, I want to squeeze as many miles per gallon out of it as I can, not decrees them.

I love the 2 door legends! Not only are they hard to find, but you have a red one which is even more rare. If that has the 6 speed manual than I'm going to :o  because those are even harder to find!

Back to your civic, you can use any D-series engine, as mentioned. D15b7 from another dx/lx (direct swap), D15b8 from a cx (this motor has an 8 valve head and is only 70 HP so I would pass this one up), D16z6 from an ex/Si (has the vtec head, would also require you to swap in a P28 ecu instead of your P06, and run 3 wires to use the vtec)

Thanks, for the info, this is the best, most knowledgeable, EG forum/community I've found. Unfortunately, the Legend is an auto (My Bro had an identical Milano Red Coupe with a 6 speed, I tried to trade him but he wouldn't; then it got totaled by a truck that ran a red light :( ).
As you can see, I have a preference towards Coupes.
