Civic EG

Basically I can hear a rattle when I'm in 5th gear and only in 5th gear. The car runs fine just the rattle bothers me. I'm the kinda guy who can't have the cup holders opened because of the vibrating noises and etc. Also, if I touch the shift knob or slightly push it towards 5th gear the rattle stops. I just wanna know what it is. New clutch soon? All my gears shift like its been well lubed lol so I don't know.

Check where the shifter connects to the linkage, maybe it's loose. Mine has done this before.

What teal said, it could also be rattling off the exhaust if thats aftermarket.

mine did this exact same thing and the exhaust was stock but it was hung with what im guessing were not the factory rubber hanger bushing things the exhaust was too close to the shifter and it would rub and rattle in 5th

hey guys thanks for the reply. I do have a crappy front passenger side axle which I should be replacing pretty soon but why does it only rattle in 5th? Either way I'm relieved to know that it's not a worn down clutch or something expensive.
