MSD Distibutor cap help

so when i bought my car i got a msd distributor cap for free. it was still in the package and all he said was i needed a coil
does it use an external coil? or internal?
im really lost with this...

you are probably going to need an external coil.

there is no probably about it, he will need one. and you will have to splice the wires into your existing harness as well
