Just, wondering, the oil light on our hondas means what??? Oil pressure??? Oil Level?? All of the above???
My oil light comes on pretty much after my car is pretty much warmed up....it doesnt stay on, it blinks....and doesnt blink in any particular order....it just blinks...??? I checked my oil, oil level seems to be fine. It hasnt been 3,000 miles since my last oil change, I would assume Im good in that category. Ive drove about 300 miles with this happening, with no consequences so far, but the oil light scares me, so Id like to get it fixed, whatever it is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :thumb:

The oil light coming on in our cars is bad, that means the oil pressure is failing....

I'm pretty sure the oil light means your system is pushing a whopping 1psi or less.

Im not noticing any less engine performance or anything else. I popped off the oil cap and crunk the car up, and oil seems to be pumping ok, I could be wrong....Someone else told me it was the oil gate sending unit, which I think is located between the oil filter and the intake manifold...and like I said, the oil light is completely random.

It could be the sending unit check and see if its in operating range.

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but what do you mean "in operating range"?

Every sensor in a vehicle has a resistance value when you test it, if its lower then spec its no good . If you can call your local parts store and ask them at what your oil level/pressure sending unit should be at when running and they will tell you or you can get the Chilton for your car or look for it online then take a DMM and test the resistance on it and see where it is when your car is warmed up and running then cross reference the book or info you got from you parts guy.

Or you could go to http://spoonertuner.com/ and download the factory maintenance manual for your specific vehicle...easy and free.
