my friend with a d15 block d16 head engages at 4,800

i dont know i never really drive it hard, plus i never really go above like 3500, it would kinda defeat the gas saving abilty of the motor, plus with it not running on an o2 sensor when i get on the gas hard it smokes a little (runs rich in lame mode) but it deff gets up and goes but levels off

i mean have you ever felt herd/ like a SOHC OR DOHC actual VTEC...

like when its time for it to pop.. youl actually really feel it a little.. and definetly hear it

thats what im asking, or is it kinda like K series where its just build up :?

well it doesnt pop, and its not like my d16z6, you can tell when that changes over, but for normal city driving with it kicking in at 2500 your basically in vtec all the timeso the only time you could hear the crossover is taking off from idle, but ill check the next time i drive it

VTEC-E does not operate by switching intake cam lobes like a normal D15/D16 vtec. So you're not going to notice it. Its purpose is for better MPG, not performance.

Honda's next version of VTEC, VTEC-E, was used in a slightly different way; instead of optimising performance at high RPM, it was used to increase efficiency at low RPM. At low RPM, one of the two intake valves is only allowed to open a very small amount, increasing the fuel/air atomization in the cylinder and thus allowing a leaner mixture to be used. As the engine's speed increases, both valves are needed to supply sufficient mixture. A sliding pin, which is pressured by oil, as in the regular VTEC, is used to connect both valves together and allows the full opening of the second valve.

thats what i figured, i never really noticed a sound change. but there are a few people that ive seen use them for performance mainly cuz of the roller rocker heads they used d15z1 bottom and z6 pistons with a z6 head but swapped the roller rockers from the z1 head and had the cam re-grinded lot of work but they made good NA power

yeah I saw a build up of one on H-T, had a good amount of torque and a great power curve. lots of mid range

is that it tho?

5,500

2,500

4,800

4,500 also

well if u get a vtec controller or tune it u can make vtec kick in at any rpm

i know. but i wanted to know stock, vtec controller is a waste of money. (i think atleast)
