i have a friend that told me a mechanic said if hes gonna use his car (94 Prelude) and step on it all the time and or street race basically drive fast alot then to take out your thermostat so more antifreeze and air can go into your engine instead of your thermostat opening and closing all the time and can cause it to get stuck and not open anymore is that true? can you drive around without a thermostat? :? ps i do like to "step on it" alot

not true whatsoever.

yes you CAN drive without a thermostat. but if its cold out, the car will pretty much never warm up.

once the thermostat opens, its open untill the car cools back down enough for it to close. when you are driving around it isnt opening and closing constantly unless maybe its really really cold and you are doing alot of stop and go driving and maybe have a mechanical fan and not electric

you can run a cooler or hotter thermostat depending on your engine setup. but thats a different story.
