more air in, more air out....... valve lift and duration. basically how much the valve is opened and how long the valve stays open.

yes and no.
as long as you know what your timing will be, yes.
if you just wing it, no.
what engine are you running? any other mods to the engine? do you have a specific drivability style? this would be the first place to start in trying to decide what cam/ cam company you will be going with.
you have to also keep in mind of how aggressive you want the cam, somethign with huge lift and alot of duration probably isnt the greatest idea for a daily. you could do a mild cam for and eveyday street machine.
make sure you do alot of research from the companies on the cams.
i see that you are typing CAMS so i would assume you have a DOHC. Vtec cams are easy to get for a DOHC, SOHC engines are just the slightest bit harder to find. Now dont get me wrong, they are out there. But if you have a specific lift and duration in mind its not like a 350 CID where everyone and their mother carries a cam for it.
I found that have a reputable company do a custom grind it pretty cool and not to overly expensive. plus it makes the benefit of being able to design your own cam for your own setup.

actually i have a sohc. lol its a d15b7 with i/h/e. only reason why i still have this motor is because it only has 69,000mi on it. i drive it pretty hard lol. so where would be a place to find one? what else would i have to upgrade with it or do i have to upgrade anything with it?

d15b7 wouldn't really be worth putting a cam in. You would only get a few hp at most out of a cam upgrade. Your best bet would be doing a mini-me swap to get a better horse power output, Plus get vtec

well some people say it does and it doesn't, naturally i would think there is since there is no pipe's restricting the air flow and it goes straight out, otheres claim since there is no piping that there is no back pressure or something like that, but i feel a little more power when i run them open.

skunk2, you should get a skunk2 or aem cam gear to be able to adjust the cam when you tune it.
