So I'm looking to repaint my valve cover and my distributor cap as well as my strut bar in my engine bay. I want something that can take the heat, but also something that has a shiny a finish as possible. Also, I will only go with blue. What are some of the paint you guys have used? And what are some of the processes you used to get the best results?

I use VHT or Duplicolor Engine Paint :thumb: both are good brands & come in a wide range of colors.

can you get it at a local autoparts store like autozoe? Or would I have more luck at a place like Home Depot?

Yep, the Duplicolor Engine paint is good. But why do you wanna paint the cap and the strut bar? I'd say leave it as it is, if you paint everything in the same color you'll just get sick of it. :D But that's just my opionion.

I've had my blue/black theme in my engine bay since I got the car years back...I'm not sick of it yet :)

That's good. Now...what about clear coating? Does clear coat work ok with it?

alright well I just went and picked up some paint. I got the dupli-color stuff. I ALSO picked up some paint that claims to be able to withstand tempuratures up to 2000 degrees F. thats incredible.

I'm getting some more painting done on the engine and I'll get pics up soon to show you guys. I'll be painting the base of the entire engine and the headers with the extreme heat paint.

be sure you follow the steps for prep exactly if you want the paint to last  show us how it turns out!

Yup I did just that. Only thing I regret now, is that Auto Zone didn't have the extreme heat clear coat in stock so I have to live with flat black headers and block until I find it somewhere. But it looks a lot better than it did. I'll get pics up toady in a new thread I'll be making about my wire tuck.
