. my car been wasting more gas then the last engine i had and there both the same. d15 non vtec . the engine came from a junk yard.I barly changed the spark plugs like 3 months ago but is it better to do the tune up like change spark plugs, fuel filter and all that or take to some shop so they can clean all the injector and intake valves and all that?

first, do you have a check engine light, that can hurt MPG depending on the cause.

second... check to be sure the timing is correct.

third... plug wires, cap, rotor can also impact MPG. they are all pretty cheap and pretty easy to replace yourself.

yea i have an check engine light but dont know what the code is.?
and the timing idk if they did it correctly? any advice how i can check if the timing is good and to check the engine ligh?
