#68525 Hey guys, my lil bro has a car that's been sitting on our mom's garage for lil over a year now. It starts once it's hot without any problems although it needs a lil cranking when cold but it starts. We've been working on it on and off for a week or so on refreshing it so he can start using it again, we're just waiting for the heads to come out of the machine shop. As I was changing the fuel filter I notice that the fuel came out a deep black color and I remove a lil amount from the tank and it was the same color. He needs to drive the car as soon as possible 'cause he started a new job. my question is (finally):
Is there any way to clean a fuel thank without removing it?? :?

I know it's a lot better to do things right the first time but he needs the car on the road asap. Any help will be appreciated...

#68718 Also, take off the rear seat cushion, pull out the fuel pump. On the fuel pump is a filter aka "sock" that costs less than $20 at the parts store and they're usually pretty dirty, but in your case it's most likely clogged.

#68925 Thanx for the reply guys, we cleaned it on saturday and that thing was dirtay. I forgot to take pics of it but it was pretty simple actually. After talking with an old friend of my dad that's ol' skul mech he told us that we could take off the fuel pump and unbolt the drain plug and with a lil bit of soap a brush and a pressure washer we could clean it and the end result was pretty good.
After cleaning it let the water drain and take a spray bottle and fill it with Marvel Mistery Oil and squirt all of the inside if the tank and let it drip until dry.
