Those guys at Autozone don't know shit. It will say right on your compressor and on a sticker somewhere under your hood. All 94+ is R134a. And no, R12 is not illegal to have. It was simply phased out. Even R134a will be phased out. W/out an ozone surrounding the planet, Earth will start looking like Mars.

Don't bother charging your system with those bottles at the auto parts store. It will only help for a short time if at all. If your AC isn't working or isn't cold enough, it needs to be serviced first before a recharge. It's not expensive.

Danny there is this spot near Geneva. on dorchester ave. Asian dudes. they do the service there. when i had my 91 integra LS i went there. my system was r-12, they flushed it and replaced with r-134a. after that my AC was cold as hell.

Check them out. all they did was hook it up to a machine they have and a few mins later it was done. 75 bucks.

it's called like Boton Auto tech or something like that. on dorchester ave.

Most of the time your system is contaminated, it leaks, it needs a new drier, or there's some other problem. It's very rare that it simply needs a recharge. They're banning those R134 bottles in Europe because they're worthless and people are basically just wasting them. They kill the ozone. I'm sure the US will follow soon after. We're quite slow in keeping up.
