Shit fuel economy, slow warming up?

Hey guys, 92 civic 4 door d16a7 slush box.

I notice my car gets very bad fuel economy (when i change it to imperial units it's like 20mpg). I drive pretty calmly and use the OD all the time, but it just doesn't get much better.

On a possibly related note, my car is so damned slow to warm up, and it does some weird stuff. I can drive 10 minutes without the needle moving, stop the engine, go somewhere for 10 minutes, get back in and the needle is at regular operating temperature, im like wtf?

Also, when it is actually warmed up (15 minutes at 50kmh?) i can turn the heater on and get jack all heat, then it puts the needle back near to the bottom pretty damned quick.

What could this all be caused by?

I'm thinking bad thermostat. Letting too much coolant through and keeping car in warm up mode

Thermostat for sure.

Then do regular maintenance. Oil change, Air filter, Spark plug/wires, PCV valve, Check tire pressure and alignment. This will all help your fuel economy! :thumb:

Hokay, replaced the thermostat.

Now it warms up before the stop sign at the end of the block, has heat, runs better and doesn't smell as much.

Thanks guys.
