i have a 92 honda civic lx for the family wen i bought it.was in good running condition a week later i try to started and it wont start. It cranks its on timing
and even if it was off timing it will still have spark im just looking for some advice because i have searched threat after threat and nothing anyways this is everything i have done with it so far
bought a brand new distributor
spark plugs
sparplug cables
ecu
main relay
put the car in timing
some body told me my last resort was to change the head because it could of bent valves but if it had bent valves would the car still have spark?thank you guys for the help new to this site i live in bethlehem,pa my name is carlos and i own a honda lol get back to me.

The only way the valves would be bent is if the timing belt snapped or the engine timing was waaay off. I don't think that would be the issue if it ran fine when you got it. If you want to know for sure though, you can do a compression test.
Did it slowly run worse or run fine and then suddenly not run at all?
Usually when there's no spark, it's a bad coil or ICM inside the distributor. Did you buy a brand new OEM distributor from Honda?
Are you sure that all of the engine grounds are connected? There's one on the valve cover, one on the transmission and one near the thermostat (most important).
Did you determine that there's no spark by arcing the plug wire to the valve cover while having someone crank the motor?

My distributor went out on me and since the rotor was stuck on i had to get a new one and that one turned out to be bad. So buying a new one that isnt oem doesnt always mean it's a good one. Not sure why you bought a ecu..was the check engine light on while cranking?

I would look in the distributor cap and check and see what the points look like and also look at what the rotor looks like. Cap and rotor are cheap but not sure if it will fix it.
That is also how I was taught to check for spark sometimes it is easier to see it at dusk or darker.

yea i checked for the grounds, they are all good and i checked for spark thru the spark plug wires with a flat head but no spark there is a plug that connects to the distributor that dont have electricity going thru it i checked it with a tester i have.....so i think is that plug i didnt follow it yet but the car had an alarm i just took all of the wiring out exept there is a relay with alot of wires going thru it i thing is the kill switch relay my boy told me to take the relay out cut the cables and unite them if not run a bridge thru them to see if it works.

yea even if the timing is off it will spark but the valves wont be in the correct position to make compression. that is when you start bending valves up. Was the screwdriver grounded out? sometimes the grip can insulate it enough that you dont get a good ground

well if the screw driver isnt grounded to the motor or the frame or something I don't think you can get a spark. If you have allagator clips and wire you can pull of the plug wire clip to the point on the cap and then take the other one and go to the motor and you should get spark. Been awhile since I have done this but I think that you need to hold it really close but not on the motor. Or you could just pull a plug and have the plug wire on it normally and I think you should see an arch on that.

ok guys i took the head off the block and there was extreme carbon build up
maybe thats y there wasent no spark because of the carbon build up anyhow im putting a diferent head a better one and checking all the wires, grounds, plugs, everything i can get 2 the fuel injectors were also all junkd up so i took the whole throtle body to get sand blast.also took the side fenders out prime them and the bumper flat back..lets see how it goes ima post pics soon and stuff stay tuned......

well good luck.
even with a bad head you should be able to get spark from the distributor. if the new head doesn't work take on of the plug wires off the distributor cap lick your fingers hold on and then touch the core support
