Over heating with thermostat in and fine with it out.

I have been trying to fix this for some time now. Im to the point where I dont know what else to try. Here is whats happening:

The car will run just fine with no overheating when the thermostat is out. It will also heat up like normal.

With the thermostat in though, the car will over heat within 15 mines of driving. When I pop the hood the radiator is super hot on top and if you feel the bottom of it you can hold you hand on it because it is cold like the car was never on.

So I thought it was the radiator so i got a new one and put it in and it has had the same problem. So next i got a new thermostat and put it in (The right way) and it still did the same thing. So i checked to see if i had a blown head gasket by looking at the oil and coolent and there both just fine.

I did bleed the cooling system of all air so its not an air pocket.

I also it has a new water pump, But it is an ebay one so idk if that could be the problem or not.

So if you have any idea what this could be let me know cuz i have ran out of things to check.

I had a similar problem on my d15b7. My problem was that the hose clamp was a little loose on the radiator hose and guess built up pressure to lose some coolant and overheat

Did you use an OEM thermostat? Take it out and drop it in a pan of boiling water on the stove to see if it opens up.

you wouldnt lose coolant it would draw air into the system though.

hum I can try that. I'm also going to get a block tester to see if I do have a blowen head gasket that's just not showing up in the oil.

bet you have an air pocket in the system 99 camry is notorious for this so bleed your system if still bad you are sucking air somewhere or you do have a compression leak in the head gasket
