Civic EG

so, im washing my car, and i wanted to see where the water goes on the door seal, it seems like it goes into the door between the interior door panel and the exterior of the door...and in between this there are holes that drain out the bottom of the door..........

is this really the system? is it just cause the EG is that old there isnt any other form of just not letting water even enter any part of the car, or is my EG missing something, all my weather strips and door jamb rubber stuff is present so i am confused.

Most cars I have looked at have this drain system with holes in the bottom of the door.
