Topics that apply to all 92-95 civics

#97806 Well my brother has a 92 civic sedan that has had a h22 put in it, and he's getting ready to put it up for sale.

I was looking for an engine swap, and thinking about buying the sedan, putting the h22 in my hatch, and putting the stock engine in the hatch into the sedan.

The only problem with that is that I believe he had a lot of engine bay work done for the h22 to fit, so I'm thinking the smaller stock engine from the hatch may not be able to fit.

Do you think it would? Would it make sense to do this? I could get the sedan with a very low mileage H22/tranny/stage 1 clutch for around 3k, and then I'd still have the car to put my engine in and have a car that still got really good gas mileage for almost the same price I'd pay for just the motor/tranny.

So do you think it would work out? Or would the engine bay be too custom for the smaller engine to be put into it?

My brother said that some of the metal has been cut out of the engine bay of the sedan for the H22 to fit, so would the smaller engine still fit without major custom work?

#97863 When you swap in a H22, you cut the OEM shifter out to fit in the Cable Shifters, You would have to cut your OEM Shifter out and weld that into the car your getting the H22 from.

Also need a hole to have the cables go out into the Bay.
H22's will drop right in given the right mounts. Unlike EF's we don't need any motivation from a Sludge hammer before it goes in.

Thats all I can think of what needs to be cut when it goes in.

#97920 ok so you got a hatch with a stock motor and your bro has a sedan with a h22 u want to buy the sedan take the h22 put it in your hatch and put you stocker from the hatch into the sedan.....i would say go for it much lighter car more powerful engine as far as the h22 goes but as for sticking the stocker into the sedan i would have to say that it would not fit back in easily you would have to do some work to make it fit like some one said already you cut a hole in your floor to fit the h22 shifter in and in the engine bay if you look at the passenger mount odds are its been cut down to house the huge engine for all the mount companies out there now atleast all that i know of require you to cut off like 1 inch of the old mount bracket.. this is no big deal though i suppose you could go to a junk yard or mabe the dealership sells the metal peice that holds the mount and as long as you have access to a welder just pop it on but still not just a in and a out will take some time :thumb: hope this helps
