motor/trans/clutch? issues

General tranny info covering all models & motors.

- Mon Apr 02, 2012 10:48 pm #300715 damn....i dont have a couple hundred bucks...maybe ill steal some :hehe: lol j/p but i got all the time in the world....i just dont want to wait any longer...and i just realized my father in law has an oxy/accet welder...wonder if hes got the torch part...if so i may be in luck :thumb: thanks for the help guys!

- Tue Apr 03, 2012 12:52 am #300731 i broke a 1/2 inch impact, 2 1/2 inch breaker bars and a 1/2 inch ratchet on my axle nut :x . i had to cut the nut almost in half and use a 3/4inch breaker bar to finally break it free.

Heat that thing till its glowing red and get a huge breaker bar, she'll break free. Every bolt on NY civics is seized from the salt, thats how i always get them free.

- Tue Apr 03, 2012 10:59 pm #300827 well no o2 or accetyline in the canisters, so i opted to just drop everything but the rack and pinion....low and behold..ONE MOTHER FUCKING BOLT for the stupid breakline is not wanting to come loose...now i have half my suspension laying on the ground and the other half is dangling by breaklines....im seriously about ready to scrap this piece of shit and sell my motor....ARRRGHHHHHH :x :x :x :x

- Wed Apr 04, 2012 12:59 am #300838 so after 2 more hours of cussing and wild hammering i got the right axel out...only for it to be in the way...all i did was take the coil fork out and yanked, and managed not to break anything....although i couldnt figure out how to pull off the upper a arm, are the one piece? but whatever...half way done then i have to raise the car further and drop the motor and trans and then the fun begins

- Sat Apr 21, 2012 10:23 pm #302519 just a quick update, both axles are out(finally :woot: ) got oil pan off old motor and no shavings so looks ok for a rebuild later on, got it up high enough to drop the old motor as well, drained everything, about half way done with wire tuck, and then i just gotta remove the shift linkage, and take out the 3 bolts holding the motor in and BAM its outta there 8)
