Diff question

OK this may sound really dumb.
Is it possible for some to weld the diff in a civic tranny
some guy is trying to sell me one he says the diff is welded
sort of peak my intrest ive done it to my old 240
for drifting so is it possible or is the guy just full of shit

I've seen it done in RWD vehicles but never a civic... I suppose it's possible but definitely a hack solution when an obx LSD is only $360.
Only thing that would scare me is not knowing if it as welded professionally and how long the welds will hold.
Driving on the street with a welded diff would be annoying as well

it's commonly done for drag racing but foolish for street use.
(or any car that needs to make turns)
extreme wheel hop will beat the crap out of suspension and gears in trans.

hey so it is possible then i just never heard of anyone doing it before
i did it on my drifter long time ago.
but never heard of it on a front wheel drive car i guess there is a first for everything thanks for the info guys
not going to buy it now
