is it in first?

hello i have a 95 civic cx model 5 speed it has 250,000km and when i am moving it around because its not on the road yet. when i put it into gear it looks like its in N. when its in first you can move the shifter alot omost from side to side like its in N but its not. the trany runs like new and the cluch is newer. what could this be?

yeah, sounds like shifter bushings.
I've also had this happen when i lost the bitch pin on the linkage, and used a bolt in its place while i waited for honda to get it in. Not fun to drive at all.

thanks i feel dumb when moving the civic and finding out its not in gear because the civic is loud and all you hear is the motor rev and me not moving.
