fixed your pictures so we didn't have to click them..looks like you've got a good project there. Not a fan of the eyelids though. Besides motor swap what are you plans for the car?

#108540 Id see if you couldnt change the fluids before you drove it as well as change the spark plugs and possibly the rotor, cap and wires, as well as fix the flat tires but yea if you cant make sure all fluids are nice n full exspecially teh brake fluid and clutch....turn over the car a couple times but dont let it fire maybe unplug the dist. this will allow some oils to get through the motor since its been sitting for a year it shouldnt be started right up the first time and driven off.....so yea turn it over like quick short bursts so you dont burn the starter and drain the battery then plug the dist back in and turn it over once it fires let it run and idle for about 10-15 mins while you check for leaks and stuff like that. then you should be ready to go however i would go slow at first make sure there is plenty of lubrication going on and then probaly after a day of driving you can go play and have a little fun with it....looks like a nice hatch pretty much unmolested i mean yea tails suck but i mean at least they didnt drill holes or anything for a mid spoiler lol that would suck.

#108735 I just started my 93 civic this past weekend, after 2 years of sitting. Before that, it was sitting for a year and a half (Nov 05).

For me, the most important thing is to change the battery.

The next important thing is to either get some high-octane fuel (I used 100), or some octane booster if your tank is full. The octane of the gas in your tank will go down by a few points over a year, unless you've put in some preservative like Sta-Bil:

http://www.goldeagle.com/brands/stabil/default.aspx

First time I started the car after a year and a half, I had to keep blipping the throttle while driving or the car would stall. I figured it might be the octane had gone down, and was probably igniting way too early. But after another long hiatus (two years), I put in the higher octane and new battery, and it started up like I drove it yesterday. No blipping needed.

It's probably a good idea to do everything else if you don't know the history of the car. But for me, even with 4 year-old oil, the engine was fine. Smooth, no misfires, rough idle, or anything. Brakes were still usable. Honda is that damn good. Just aired up the tires and drove it out!

#108948 true the car just had an oil change before he stopped driving it and the battery is fairly new, just needs to be charged up
