I makes it a little quieter. I have a JDM ITR cat converter but w/ out the silencer it still sounds like a straight pipe. With the silencer it's slightly muffled.

Since you're boosted, it must be quiet as hell on yours w/ out the silencer right? My boys boosted GSR is quiet as hell.

I have 2.5" mandrel bent custom turboback piping with no resonator. It's loud... and it actually sounds like an SRT-4 more than anything with it backfiring ALOT. I got a fix it the other day for the loud exhaust, tint and no front plate soo..its not quiet.. HAHA. Compared to my buddies NA LS with N1, mine is louder. I'm thinking about getting a silencer, just seeing personal experince with it, since NO ONE here has one :(
