Your Hatch is OBD1 stock. Unless someone pulled your engine, you should have a B16a, I am not sure if it has a LSD.

Before you decide on what Swap to do you need to know what you want your car to do. Will this be your Daily Driver? IS 100% Reliability a Must? Are you going to Turbo Charge it later down the Road?

I would advice Turbo Charging your B16. It would be advisable to get ARP Rod bolts. And You WILL NEED to get it Tuned. If you do blow your block, you can get another B16 Block Rather Cheaply from someone who is making there B16 an LSvtec or B20vtec. Or you can just get an LS or B20 block, If you get another block under your head, you should get your car Re-tuned.

If you want to stay away from Turbo's Putting a new block in place of your B16 block is a cheap way to go. Either putting in an LS or a B20 Block. Before you Decide to go this Route you need to know the Engine will only be as Reliable as you build it. - Link to DIY.

If you are going to do a Complete swap, Not wanting to touch Internals, I would advice getting an H22(or H23 if you want to Boost). If you want to go this Route you will have alot to change, Including going from your Rod shifter to a Cable Shifting.

Before you choose your Path, Make sure and do Research into what Path you want to do.
