#214031 I have a full built (J&E pistons, Eagle rods, etc) B16 with a 57 trim turbo. Right now I run 12 PSI daily and put out a smidge under 400 whp. I have looked all over and can't find out how many pounds of boost an unsleeved B16 block can take. I would like to track this car pretty soon and would like to bump up the boost for the track. But can an unsleeved B16 block say take, 18-20 PSI? I just really want to know what the block can take, and don't need a ton of people posting, "yeah, get it sleeved." Thanks guys!

#214038 That's because PSI is irrelevant. Cylinder pressure is what is going to cause your sleeves to fail. 10 PSI on a t25 is different than 10 psi on a t66. Bigger turbos flow more cfm (cubic feet per minute) than small turbos, thus generating more pressure per pound of boost. Try searching for what sort of WHP numbers people are putting down on stock sleeves before they start cracking this will give you a better idea. Also it's all in the tune, you can make a totally stock engine crack a sleeve if you fuck the tune up enough.

#214175 Thanks man! I am going to look farther into this. Pretty soon I am going to get re-tuned. I am going to start asking around while at meets and stuff what some of the higher horse power guys are doing for their engine blocks. I know the B series blocks are pretty strong (as compared to weak H series blocks). Good info AutoXCivic.

#221293 Just like autox said, its all in the tune. honda tuning did a feature a few months back about a 500hp stock b16. it did have lower comp. pistons, along with rings, but the sleeves and rods were stock and it produced a little over 500. that being said, who knows how long it will last. but you should be ok as long as you take care of the motor and keep it maintained as well as taking the right steps to have a properly tuned ecu
