#255700 the jackson racing supercharger they make for the d16z6, for someone with not the biggest budget,,,would it give enough kick to my car? or not shit at all???

#255953 If you want a FAST car that is not the way to go. If you want a daily driver with a really broad powerband, that's all sorts of fun to drive ... jump on it.

From what I've seen regarding these the blowers are kinda small and won't get you much over the 200 whp mark ... and that's with extra work/supporting mods. That being said in the EG/EJ chassis 180 whp is a lot of fun (hell my mini me @ 120 whp was fun). If you are looking to smoke cars left and right ... the JRSC is not going to get the job done. If you want a very drivable, incredibly fun car ... do it. It will a quick little thing.

#255972 D16z6 with a Super charger will make a fun daily driver. It will be decently quick. For Motorsports, it will do good in auto cross, circuit racing and such. It be as good as a turbo for Drag Racing.

Basically it all comes down to what you want to do. I like superchargers myself. However if this is going to be a gutted drag car, you wont want it. however if you daily it and do a little auto x on the side it will work well.

Most D Series superchargers I saw where more expensive then doing a B Series swap so they didn't make since to me. If you can get one cheap and/or make a DIY Supercharger kit out of domestic parts then go for it.

Dont forget a tune by a professional shop, otherwise you will be on the hunt for a new D Series bottom end.

superchargers take power to make power

And turbos dont? they restrict your exhaust. So in a sense they also power to make power.

Turbos have the capability to make more power however will take time to spoll up. Superchargers might less power, however when you hit the gas its right there when you want it.

You should do yourself a huge favor and look through people's build threads of who have gone through turbo builds, Such as teal's and BlaCkSiLo's Build thread's. You also owe it to yourself to look at a Build thread of someone who used a supercharger such as b18cDelslo's.

looking at their build threads will help you find out what goals you want and help you with your build. Before i make a big decision i do lots and lots of research. Check out peoples build threads all over the internet, look at options you might not have thought of before(such as nitrous) and see if that will work for what you want to do.

#256060 Yes turbos take time to spool ... BUT you can have your cake and eat it too. With a properly sized turbo you can have a power band that pretty closely mimics a super charger. My current setup, for example, has a completely linear power band. No "holy shit there's the turbo" factor going on here. Completely smooth engagement and pulls hard until it's time to shift. If you go with higher compression you can really cut down on lag to the point where you can barely notice it. Link to my dyno plot.

Chances are that you will also get better gas mileage with a turbo as you can be out of boost. With a super charger as long as it is spinning you are always compressing air (unless there is some sort of bypass valve), which necessitates more fuel to keep the AFRs correct. (I think ... I don't know quite as much about SCs as I do about turbos, since I went that route.)

#257462 I love my s/c setup. Over 220whp using a s/c of a Previa (84cid).

My setup has an a/c type pulley on it so i turn it on when I need 12psig boost. :D
