keep your head up man, it will get better, i had problems with mine in the beginning but i have put like 10k miles on it boosted without any problems, drive it everyday and hit full boost everytime i drive it! :thumb: reliable as shit, just get a good tune

Could def see it being that other cam though, I will take pictures so you guys can see how it looked. Cause if valve lash real loose and it chipped away valves might not be opening enough so wouldn't make past a certain amount of boost. I dunno we will see here shortly.

- Fri Oct 01, 2010 7:27 am #216197 Just an update. So some more bad news. Got the new cam in and charge piping, still no boost! Getting quite a bit of blow by so I decided to pull motor and see what the hell is goin on.

After getting it apart it didn't look too bad. Cylinder walls pretty glazed but hoping I found my problem. My piston to wall clearance was around .005 in, a little bigger than I would like to have it although people get away with running bigger.

But my main concern and thought why there is no boost is the ring end gap for compression rings, its about .035 in. The factory rings call for if (I remember correctly) from .006-.012. And the service limit is .024 for top ring and .028 for second ring. So I am way over the service limit which would cause my low compression and blow by! With boosted motors everyone says to run things looser so I found take this helpful from another site .006 x bore = end gap you should run. In my case it should turn out to be .017-.018

So I have .5mm bigger pistons on the way and then off to the machine shop to get bored. If this doesn't solve my problem I give up. :?

however i cant see you pushing ALL that boost through the rings, was the HG good?

maybe pre-boost leaks?

- Sat Oct 02, 2010 6:16 am #216392 Head gasket was good. Absolutely no leaks, boost leak tested to over 28psi. Along with a million other tests.

- Tue Dec 28, 2010 8:23 pm #230210 No problems with p2v clearance with the oversized valves, but the vitaras also sit below deck. Shouldn't have a problem.

Haven't been on here in a while again but some more bad news. Got my freshly built block in good compression ready to hit they dyno, and spun number 4 rod bearing again. Got sick of the Y8 and their shitty oiling systems.

But good things to come.

Picked up a D16Z6 block, supertech 10.5:1 comp pistons, eagle rods, brand new crank, new oil pump that is being built now.

No more crower cam upgraded to the bisimoto level 3.6.

Brand new garrett 60-1
New turbonetics evolution wastegate
2.5" intercooler piping
Tial 50mm bov

And much more goodies.

Shooting high next year. Wish me luck.
