- Tue Jul 28, 2009 8:45 pm #133886 you dont need alot of tools to swap an engine. im planning to do mine asoon as the the d15 dies on me. just gonna drop the motor out the bottom, so then i wont have to go out and buy a engine hoist. my main problem would be getting in a new engine from the bottom up. :x :? :thumbdown:

I have Spark and Fuel.

Checked compression.
the lowest was 62, the highest was 110.
I am not sure if its the head or the block causing the lack of compression.

This car wont be going anywhere soon, Especially not to the Meet Sunday.
As of right now I dont know what I am going to do with this car.
Dont know if I am going to throw a d15b7 in it or what.

wow man, wtf happened? was it an assembly issue that could create the low compression?

what pistons/rods are you using? i mean what compression should you have?

i think you should stick with the z6 and just figure out what is going on... maybe something simple as a head gasket? sucks man........

It should just be a z6 rebuild. z6 pistons on z6 Rods.

the old engine I pulled out was getting 180 on my compression tests, So this should get similar. I want to keep my z6. I loved the one in my Coupe. me and my dad are going to check for timing errors and what not. I hope its something simple.

- Thu Jul 30, 2009 7:29 pm #134325 for the staring problem. having fuel and spark . next step would be to check the grounds becuase they can prevent the car from not starting.

sry to hear about the compression issue. that sucks. did you torque down everything in sequence i.e block to head?

dont give up, you'll get her running good soon 8)

- Fri Jul 31, 2009 2:18 pm #134525 yeah you will get her up and running...i have my old z6 pistons/rods if it'll help? i would check the timing and grounds first off.... was the head yielding good compression on the old mini-me minus the rod knock? cause if the head isn't the problem, maybe the rings got installed wrong?

Tomorrow I will squirt some oil into the cylinders through the spark plug holes and see if that will give me enough compression to start.

Hopefully I will return with Good news Sunday.

- Mon Aug 03, 2009 7:44 am #135019 Got back from my uncles, sprayed some oil in each plug hole and all cylinders are now in the triple digits! All between 160-180 :thumb:

Still not starting, Messed with Timing and distributor. I noticed a broken spring in my new distributor cap, I will bring my old cap with me and try my luck again.

I will most likely head down there after work Monday or Tuesday to work on my EK Mount. While I am there I am sure I will play with the timing some more.

i would check ur compression b4 you turbo it
just to see where you are
then after you broke ur turbo in check it again :thumb:
