#132106 dont get drilled rotors, only slotted
the holes actually make your brakin worse
it takes away from the surface area

#132203 well really the drilled rotors tend to crack. holes= weak points.... get them slotted and dimpled. much better stuff. and ya it does take away from the braking surface but if it was that much of a diff im sure they would not sell em :thumb:

just gotta look. they are the upgraded version of drilled and slotted.
thanks #2 for the pic :thumb:

hell ya. ya the dimples actual catch the heat and alow it to escape as the holes, well, what happens when you fall in a hole??? you get stuck, so the heat will get stuck and cause the rotor to stay hot and not cool....

#151504 The holes are there to allow the gases produced by the friction of braking to escape. Same with the slots. Dimples don't really do anything, to be completely honest. They might help with the dissipation of gases, but not enough to where I would go out looking for the dimpled rotors.

Drilled rotors will eat your pads unless the holes are chamfered, kind of like dimples.

PowerSlot CryoRotors are the best, IMO. I rock them. The Cryogenic treatment that PowerSlot uses is cooling the metal to -300*F, then allowing the metal to normalize to room temperature, then heating it to +300*F, then allowing the metal to normalize again, and doing this several times. It ultimately yields the strongest grain structure within the metal as well as the best heat dissipation.

Heat dissipation also has a lot to do with the vanes between the rotor faces. EBC vanes are awesome. A lot of surface area which increases cooling effects.

The main reason race groups use drilled and slotted rotors is because they help more with the heat and gases and they don't really care how much the pads get eaten each race. They change the pads out every race anyways...

Nice DC4, BTW. Sorry I nerded out and stole your thread... I'm actually really surprised to see the body in such great shape for the year. You should have seen the body on my '94...you would have reeled back on your heels it's so bad. Definitely diggin' the silver/black going on. And I'm envious of your black interior.
