When I first start my car the idle shoots up to like 2,000 RPMS and will eventually go down to like 1,000ish. While the car is warming up it will idle very randomly, like dip around a lot. If its not to much to ask could you guys give me some help and an estimate on how much and how hard the work to fix it is?

Sounds like the FITV to me, mine did the same thing. Pulled the FITV off and tightened it down ... good as new.

This would also only be the problem if the idle is going up and down. If it's just staying high, there's probably a vacuum leak somewhere. Check every single vacuum line to make sure there aren't any leaks or cracks.

Yeah but the idle doesn't stay high its only high until the car gets warmed up.

- Wed Oct 06, 2010 1:05 am #217033 So I cleaned the IACV today and I haven't really been able to tell yet since I never really got the car to get cold, but it may just be wishful imagination but it seemed to start better when it was almost cooled off. But anyway today I filled up the gas tank completely full for the first time since I got the car, I put 14.519 gallons in it. Now my car smells like it been dowsed in gasoline. Before it sometimes smelled like gas but I thought that was the because the plug to the fuel filter underneath the back seat so I put it back in a while ago and it seemed to fix it. But now it really really smells. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I don't think there's a fuel leak because I haven't seen any stains or puddles.
