as you may know i upgraded to a z6 from a b7, ive driven h22 preludes and b18 tegs, but this is the first vtec civic ive driven. Obviouly the b7 was slow to me, but the z6 doesnt seem like that big of an improvement. In other words, i want you to watch my vid and tell me whether you think it is as fast as it should be. Its stock, just has cat back exhaust. And my wheels are 17s with 205/45 series tires, so i know it wont be as fast as it would be with smaller wheels. please dont just say, well its slow because you have monster truck tires. Also, dont say d's are slow go b series; because well that isnt the purpose for this topic.
That being said, ty for your input. I was shifting by watching the rpms through the camera screen but i think i still did ok considering.

My coupe z6 is just about where you are
Maybe a little faster 0-60 then you
Its hard to judge when im not driving your car
Is your motor stock?
and or have you done any work to it?

ive got a z6 in my hatch, and its faster than that, but not by a whole lot. i think the difference is the weight. youre probly right around where you should be. how olds the motor, cuz it might not be putting out the same power as it did stock. my advice is just take care of it. ive made a serious point of maintaining my engine for the last couple years (oil changes every 3k, gas additives, ignition work, fuel filter and pump) any of those things would cause a power drop and are all likely suspects on an older vehicle and engine. i can honestly say that my engines stock output it higher today than it was when i bought the car 2 years ago, and its got 25k more miles on it. Yeah my z6 has I/H/E
so does my d15b maybe that's the difference
Give it a tune up
Plugs/wires
oil change you know...
Maybe let it breathe a little more with an intake

The motor has been well taken care of. I myself use full synthetic every 3k. It seems to be in great running condition, it just seems slow. But there is no lag feeling or rough idle etc. Im getting new wheels tomorrow that are factory size, be interesting to see how much of an effect that has on it.
As far as i/h/e i do plan on doing these things, but with a turbo in the spring. So i didnt want to spend money on intake and header just to replace it in a few months.
Also i realized after the vid that the dizzy timing was retarded all the way...which might have a little to do with it. Ill see tomorrow, and perhaps post a new vid. But i am glad to see its not overly slow. I also have a weak a clutch, should have spent the extra money on a better one, will be doing that with the turbo i suppose.

When you did the z6 swap did you replace the transmission with the EX/Si Tranny? or just reuse the dx/lx tranny you had with the D15b7.
If you havn't swapped the Tranny I would recommend it as it will be a big help.

sorry to say dude, but my D15B7 block and Y8 head are quite a noticeable bit faster. something is a little weak about it, and I dont know what it would be. I can make a video to show you.
Is your temperature usually this low? VTEC won't kick unless the engine is warm enough.

Chrono-the car came with the z6, i didnt swap engines i swapped cars, lol. And its actually an ex so i assume it has an ex trans. But to be honest i never thought to look when i had the trans out.
Did the sedan ex's use the lx tranny? Is it shifting about where it would be for an si trans?
My concern was that vtec might not be kicking in. The car does get a little warmer than that. This was 6-7 minutes after starting the car. Is there a way to tell whether its kicking in or not without getting a vtec light? I know you can hear it with dohc but what about the z6's? if i take my intake off and drive down the road will it make it easier to hear? I took another video about five minutes after that, ill post a link to it here in a sec.
Upon checking the car over today i discovered that the front driver side brake is not releasing all the way, and there is a noticable pull to the left when i take my foot off the gas. So much that with the wheel off i couldnt spin the hub by hand. I suspected as much though, because i often times can take my foot off the brake on small inclines and not roll away. Got some new wheels which im going to post pics of tomorrow and will need someone to tell me where they came from. Adjusted the dizzy timimg. Havent had a chance to test drive the car yet will in the morning.

Ill have to get the brake issue resolved, i am willing to bet that is the main issue, because the car has been so well maintained and the engine seems to run so smoothly. according to these videos i have an almost 10 second 0-60
Thanks all so much for the input so far

any input on brakes not releasing fully let me know
new wheels helped alot

here are two new vids, only difference in these is the new wheels. I still havent fixed the brake. It seems noticable to me, what do you think? getting closer? There is a slight difference in the two because i was playing with the timing.
