Hi guys,

Took my car for a spin now, came home and reversed it into my driveway
Then turned it off and got out to open the garage.

Got back in and started the car, upon it firing up the speedo needle shot up
To about 40. Then it came back to normal after about 1-2 seconds and I reversed the car in.

Any thoughts please?

Did it only happen that one time? Keep an eye on it and see if it continues/gets worse. Maybe your VSS is beginning to act up.

Mine jumps and falls every time I take the key out. I already tried another VSS. I have another cluster to try but then I'll have to change the odometer and that's a pain.

Some newer sports/luxury cars do a gauge sweep. Maybe your civic is just trying to be fancy. :)

Yeah my STi does it, but on my Civic it isn't cute.
I tried another cluster and it still does it. I guess I'll have to buckle down and actually diagnose the stupid thing.
I'll start with the ground diagram once I get a chance.
