What's the Diff?

B18C 180hp $1700

B18C Type R 200hp $4300

Now if I am looking for a street-reliable N/A build motor, why would I pay $2600 for an additional 20hp?

In terms of compression, the first is 10.6, second is 11.1. In terms of torque, they vary by less than 10.

Would anyone suggest one of these over another? At this point I'm not ready to jump into this process, but I am trying to do as much research beforehand so I know what I want when I want it.

Has anyone built either of these motors? It's late and I'm a bit too tired to look up the differences on wiki, but I think the bottom one is the B18C and the first one must be the B18C1 perhaps? Or something different from B18C.

For my future build I obviously don't wanna drop 3/4 of the cost for a K motor to get a B, but I also want reliability and a decent amount of power for my dollar. I'd settle for 180 if it meant another $2600 in my pocket to put towards boost or internal upgrades, from which I could easily get to and pass 200hp for much less money.

I'm just confused as to why the huge difference in cost with such a minimal power difference. :? Please, preach away brothers. [smilie=notworthy.gif]

I'd like to know where you found a B18C for 1700? That is extremely low for a B18C. You sure you weren't looking at the B16 price because that is what they cost.

Just to name a few. :P

lol you need more than just the longblock...

The GSR one is a longblock only. it is not a complete swap.

The R you have linked is a complete swap.

I see, I see.

So the GSR full swap would probably only likely run me $1000 - $1500 less than for the Type R I'm assuming.

Well, if I end up getting this new job then I might as well spring for the Type R in the future lol. Thanks for the info guys. :thumb:

well keep in mind that price for the GSR is without a tranny.

but if i was to buy one or the other i'd go with the GSR and with the money left over do a mild build on it.

Well...estimates on the cost of a tranny?

And not one with 300K from a junkyard lol.

Like I said these entire plans are at least a year down the road or so, but I just want to know for that price range what my best options are.

I definitely like the B18C just purely based on base power output, and I think I want an 18 over a 16 for sure.

Edit: Nvm, Hmotorsonline has a complete GSR changeover for $3K Here.

My next question would be, what's the difference in these two motors?

30010 - B18C 96-97 (TypeR) Motor, Tranny, ECU
200Hp 134Trq 11.1 Compression(JDM)
$ 3900.00 Plus shipping and handling 96-97 Spec
$4500.00 Plus shipping and handling 98Spec+

$1500 for an extra 20hp isn't totally ridiculous if the 98Spec is considerably more reliable.

Type-R FTMFW!!!

I've had b16's, GSR's, single slams, and nothing compared to my R. :thumb:

I'd go for a GSR, Type-R is really nice, but kinda overrated.
A B18C spec GSR with Type-R cams, i/h/e and some ECU remapping will outperform a spec R, and you still haven't paid a lot more than for a stock B18C spec R.

... yea but if you run a Type-R with a remap of the ECU it can outperform that GSR. We can also go into debate about the LSD tranny. I would prefer the LSD tranny if i get ANY b series for that matter. That tranny along is $1000 so figure that one out.
