The weather is warming up and I am starting the little reapirs on my hatch. The thing I want to do is to fix the doors. I don't know if anyone has this problem, but I do, and it is the following:

When I open the door it drops... It sounds bad, although it isn't, because I can't explain in well in English. It doesn't drop on the ground, it just drops a few inches and when you close it, makes a very ugly sound, also the feeling is shitty.Once I opened a hatchback front door on another car, and it didn't drop, it was like heaven...

I don't know if you know what I tried to explain, but I did my best. Can you help me on this matter? What should I do, is this problem fixable, I heard it is.

- Sun Apr 05, 2009 2:35 pm #108433 Adjust your hinges and the door latch, you'll probably have to remove the wing to get access to the bolts for the door hinge

- Sun Apr 05, 2009 11:57 pm #108523 probably replace them altogether, sofia is a pretty humid place so hinges probably are gone. try adjusting and lubing them first and if that problem is still there, than buy new ones.

Ok, so, I should take the "wing" off and see what to do by intuition?

- Mon Apr 06, 2009 12:03 pm #108588 take the "wing"/fender off and just buy new hinges. it's the only way to fix this is, it has pieces of metal inside when they wear away with time. This happen to me and did everything I could to fix it and avoid buying new ones, ended up buying them and problem fixed.

...Unless your hinges bolts are loose

- Tue Apr 07, 2009 12:00 am #108694 when you open the door can you move it up & down??? if so the hinge pins are worn out, & will need to be replaced

- Tue Apr 07, 2009 2:55 pm #108841 Unfortunatelly I can move the doors up and down I will take the wings down, and will try to fix the problem... If not working, then I am going to buy new ones... which probably will cost me around... 4000$ /the Honda dealer here in BG is a di*k

I will be very happy if Graham is right. So, Graham, can you tell me what exactly should I do, or it is easy?

- Wed Apr 08, 2009 4:21 am #109055 when i bought my car i had the same problem, i went to a body shop and the guy said all he had to do was to take the the little pin that lets the door not open too much. and in the hinge put a little metal thing that looks like a "c". he pulled the door up and wedge the little "c" in between the hinge. so he welded it in to place but making sure not to weld the hinge and the "c" cuz then you wont be able to close the door. it woked perfect.

well, metal does rust in humid conditions, if lubrication is gone and bare metal is showing, rust can eat metal away.

no, always wanted to go there. but back when i lived in ukraine my moms sister would always go there for business related stuff. lol. but dude, i ever go we should meet up man!

- Thu Apr 09, 2009 5:07 pm #109455 Take the wing/ fender off and you'll see 4 bolts that attach the hinges to the shell. Loosen them and lift the door slightly higher than it needs to be, tighten the bolts and see if it lines up better. Just keep adjusting it till you get it right

As for hinges rusting, theyre like 7mm or 8mm thick metal - no danger they'll rust away

- Fri Apr 10, 2009 2:32 am #109536 i had the same problem until yesterday i was at my cousins and we were looking at my car and told him about it he said its usually not the pins but the metal they bolt to cause if you have your door open and lean on it it will bend all we did was lift up on the door a couple times now it shuts like butter,now i keep forgetting and slam it shut,just remember not to lean or pull down on them when getting out
