word so was he but yeah i guessing you do body work... as well i. took two yrs myself. highest in class :D but yeah most ppl that attempt body work will end up screwing it up with a low grit as apose to very high grit

low grit= fast screw up unless have knowledge
high grit= hard to screw up ... fast that is lol :thumb:

i will definitely try this using anzhal car show clear coat :thumb:

It has some pretty big cracks in it, so I know it'll never really look perfect again, I'm just curious as to the best way to go about shining it up again. One of the guys I work with told me not to clear coat it since the resin itself will suffice as a clear. He said just wets sand with 1500 and buff to a shine. What should I do?

- Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:01 am #238042 best thing to do in my opinion if its a CF hood is to take it somewhere and have the flaking spots removed and have them recoat it with resin. probly want to make sure they have experience with CF though lol. maybe a speed shop or something like that.

also...if you wet sand your cf part, and clear coat it....if you want an awesome shine after. (look of glass). wet sand again after part has dried for a couple days with 1500 or 2000 grit. if you're not sure how to tell if you've sanded all the orange peel off, easiest way to tell is to dry the part off and look at it, you'll be able to see shiny pits that havent been sanded yet, the sanded parts will be dull from sanding. BUT dont concentrate on just the untouched spots after that, make sure you sand the whole thing evenly still. AND....if you're not sure how to high speed buff the part, take it to someone who can, if you get the part too hot, you'll burn it, and with CF being resined, you could really screw it up.
