z6 vs y8 intake for minime

I have a z6 head and intake for a mini me build. I also have access to a y8 intake/throttle body for $30. Should I bother with the y8 intake? this car will be my DD commuter.

- Thu Oct 21, 2010 8:06 pm #219291 that's a good price... just be sure the y8 is from a manual car, preferably 96-97. 98-00 had cold start assist which is an extra step to bypass. I did it in the mini-me build thread in the DIY list if you need to see how.

manual is a must though. :thumb:

- Thu Oct 21, 2010 10:13 pm #219308 if you already have the z6 head, I'd stick with that intake manifold. You won't have to worry about port matching the runners and the z6 IM is ideal for the Z6 head. The z6 IM is supposed to flow slightly better at very top end while the y8 is supposed to be a little better in the mid range, flowing slightly better overall. But still not as good as the z6 IM at high RPM. I still have never seen flow charts or dyno #'s to compare the two.. this is all what I've read over the years on different forums.

It's not going to make much of a difference in your HP.
