- Fri Oct 22, 2010 4:07 am #219360 i have a d16b7 i dead a head gasket change and im pretty sure i got the timing off. can anyone help me on how to get it back. im not sure where to put the gears.... pictures would be nice. i really need some help.

- Fri Oct 22, 2010 4:49 pm #219439 I don't have any pics off hand, but do you have everything set to TDC? THere's marks on the cam gear and main pulley for this.

do you have a haynes/chilton manual? There's detailed illustrations of the process in them. :thumb:

- Fri Oct 22, 2010 4:56 pm #219442 we got a chiltin manuel and i see the mark on the top of the timming cover. and the cam gear. and the mark near the bottom of the timming cover for the main pully. but i see like 2 different marks on the pully

- Fri Oct 22, 2010 7:34 pm #219459 yes there should be white and red... one is TDC and the other is advanced 16 degrees I believe. I forget which is which but the manual should tell you. Then use that mark and you're good to go :thumb:

- Sun Oct 24, 2010 3:37 am #219655 ok we redid the timing it was off by like 2 teeth. but i still hear this weird noise. its like a loud rattling or tapping. at first i thought it may be the flywheel. cause it starts doing it when u put it in gear. but when the car is in park you dint hear it. then i noticed when the car is in park if i turn on the headlights it pulls a lil from the motor making it have lower rpm's. and it makes the noise. and then i can turn them off. it stops. if i then press the break it pulls a lil from the motor lowing the rpm's it makes the noise as well. so i have no clue what it could be. but its loudest when i have the lights on and its in gear. if i am driving i don't really hear it. can the flywheel make a noise like that even when its in park?

- Sun Oct 24, 2010 4:02 am #219661 a lot of things can be making a tap sound... any way you can post a vid with the sound? Try pputting your ear in the engine bay to hear where it is from.
