#103304 ok im cleaning my engine bay and priming when i notice my power steering system. could i remove it to save room and astectiks? i mean because the steering rack is designed to have it will it hurt it if i remove it? making me replace it sooner cause ir needs fluid to turn smooth? i realy have no idea so please shed some light on this issue fellas or even if its a good idea at all. thanks

#103322 There are a few tings on here about it, but first off I'd have to ask is your power steering working? like is your car stock with normal working power steering?

#103326 yes the power steering works theres no engine in the bay now but a h22 is going in so not stock i was worried about clearance issues with the new motor goin in this is why i ask

#103332 hmmm that dose prove a delema i know some motor swaps wont allow p/s to be used and some people disconnect it and plug up the holes with bolts on the steering rack. after they lube the heck outa it.....but for me i would do it the right way if your going with a h22 its gonna be heavier there for i beleive its going to be a tad harder to steer compared to a d series in the bay......anyhow i would try and find a non power steering rack and also subframe since there is a bit of difference in mounts i beleive ive read....anyhow yea itd be more work and a little more expensive but it would be the correct way to do it and you wouldnt have to worry about having to relube the steering rack every so often and worry about it failing. though not sure if it would do it quickly but im sure without fluid in it it has the potential to fail.......
