#105634 ok so im picking up a set of bottlecaps for $50 and i thinking bout painting them black with red lip

as far as the red lip goes i was told that metalcast red paint looks really nice..... will that work on rims???

and i'll prolly need to put a good coat of clear on it right?

oh and if i used that metal cast would i have to sand it all the way down to metal or would it appear the same over the stock gray or w.e color?

#105650 metalcast is awesome on wheels, you do have to sand it good and make sure its clean and non-greasy. Cheap alternative to degreasers is rubbing alcohol - pref 91% - $4.00 or so for a big bottle at walmart. use masking tape when doing lip and they make duplicolor clear-coat for wheels. Good luck and post some pics!

metalcast is good for wheels cause it is enamel so it will hold up better. just be sure you prep & clean the rims.

Clear is an option, just be sure it is an enamel since you're putting it over an enamel. also be sure it is made for wheels so it can take the heat.

metalcast is translucent so you will see through the red tint. so if it is over bare aluminum then you'll have a nice red. if it is over grey then you won't see much at all.

enamels have strict re-coat times so be sure to read the directions on the paint, not like lacquers which have no re-coat window.
