#111418 today decided to weigh the car as it stands now with the engine/transmission/seats/tanks /dash etc. used bags of blasting sand to mimic the weight of 30L of fuel and the weight of a full dry sump tank. the battery is also in.
What needs to be put in are the doors+windows/windshield and the rear will consist of lexan. the driveshafts and seatbelts also need to be mounted as well as the instruments and very tiny compressor for the shift mechanism.
I was just curious as to how the weight would be and I'm not disappointed at all: 809 (with fuel and oil)kilograms, I think we will have a dry operating weight under a 1000kgs (without driver and fuel)

#112793 I started out today hoping I could finish both A-frame braces and fit the headlights and do some small stuff like install the equipment for the shift mechanism.

I couldn't have been more wrong... I ended up with fitted headlights and 1 A-frame brace........this was way more work than I had anticipated, but we'll get back to it tomorrow, need to finish the lower corners of the brace where they meet the dash, I want to fill up the holes needed to fit the dash around the cage. looks a bit nicer and since bas is going for the "show and go" look, I better make it nice..:D

#112983 As promised, finished the other side today.

The cardboard part but then in steel:

Welded it in to fill up the hole between the dash and the rollbar:

These pictures show how nicely it mates with the dash:

Then went on to finish the left side:

And again how the dash fits nicely inbetween with no holes to the sides:

#114184 Today was a nice day, so Niles and I pushed the EK out and did some work.

welded/bondo-d/ sanded and primed the old shifter hole:

Decided after all to weld in B-frame support brackets:

Made a new fuel pump mount:

And made brackets to hold down the fuel cell, since the 4 intended sheet aluminium brackets gave me worries:
